our story

Radiance Church was formally known as Glad Tidings, as of January 2013 the name of the church was changed.

Radiance Church was founded 1940 in Perth Amboy, NJ and continues to share the Word of God with residence of Perth Amboy and the surrounding towns. A little historical perspective: for the first 3 years, the church was housed at Gorden Street, near State St., it then moved to Amboy Ave., where it would remain for the next 47 years. In the fall of 1990 Radiance Church new home was located on King St. nestled among a number of small businesses. In or around 2003, we received notice that the Church would have to move due to an “eminent domain” claim from the city who wanted to build a grocery store and a parking ramp on that block. Our Pastor, at the time, fought city hall for several months because there were no other church buildings available in town for us to move into. Staying in town was important to us as many of our members lived in town and every Sunday afternoon we fed the homeless and those in need. We had to be in a location that was easily accessible for our people. The developer of King Plaza bought out a furniture warehouse and renovated it to our specifications. So, in early 2004 Radiance Church was at its final destination, 446 Market St. The building is beautiful. When you come you will see just what the Lord has done.

Pastor Elmin has a goal to share his passion for Jesus with the church, equipping them to share their passion for Jesus in their home, work place and community. He believes in making sure the church is relevant in the community, so people of every age, background and culture will come to know Jesus. He feels that the church should be a community where every need is met physically and spiritually. Our prayer is that God will use Radiance church to make disciples of Jesus in Perth Amboy, the surrounding area and the world. We want people to experience God's love, freedom and joy in their lives.
